We didn’t really do a big pregnancy announcement but I thought it might be a fun idea to do pregnancy update post to share with everyone. In my first trimester I was feeling pretty good overall but was so tired and didn’t really devote much time to blogging (sleep is more important…right?!). Now that I’m past the halfway point I decided it was time to write a little bit about what I’ve been going through and give you guys a second trimester pregnancy update.
Weeks pregnant: 22 weeks
Currently feeling: Good overall! I hear about a lot of pregnant women who have a really hard time and struggle with feeling really sick among many other issues. Sometimes I feel kind of guilty talking about how good I feel with other pregnant moms but I know I shouldn’t as every pregnancy is so different. I feel so blessed to have everything go so smooth so far and I’m doing my best to take care of myself and hope that it continues throughout the rest of my pregnancy.
Baby is a: Boy!!! We’re very excited to meet our little guy! It was a bit of a debate when it came to finding out the baby’s sex or keeping it a surprise. At first my husband wanted it to be a surprise and I wanted to find out..I went back and forth a little bit and then we ultimately decided to find out as we were getting so excited and it makes it so much easier to plan! We didn’t have a preference either way but only hope that our baby boy is healthy.
Names: We have a few names picked out but are keeping them a secret until the baby is born. We won’t even be making our decision until that point because we both want to meet him before we decide on his name.
What I’ve been doing to keep active: Honestly, not very much outside of my regular day-to-day activities. I don’t have an office job and am pretty active throughout the day so most of the time I feel like that’s enough. I also do prenatal yoga once a week because I’ve heard that it has helped a lot of moms throughout labor and delivery as well as bouncing back after. The baby is very active and I can feel him moving around quite a bit now!
My “must haves” so far: Bio Oil-I put it on my belly every morning. I’m not sure if it will help prevent stretch marks or not (they say it’s mostly genetics) but I’m convinced it can’t hurt to keep my skin hydrated as my belly grows. I also can’t live without chocolate. Chocolate ice-cream, chocolate chip cookies, bark-thins, chocolate covered almonds, chocolate milk…the list goes on (and those that know me well know that I was like this pre-pregnancy..so no surprise haha). I try to limit treats and lately have been subsituting fruit if I’m craving something sweet.
What I’m wearing: I’m so happy to have a bit of a maternity wardrobe now. At first I continued to wear my regular clothes but as I reached the end of the first trimester they were getting super uncomfortable and I wasn’t feeling good about myself wearing anything. I try to always keep comfy..and professional while working. I’ve got most of my stuff from Thyme Maternity so far and love how soft everything is. Most of their pants also come in petite length which is so convenient for me as regular length is always way too long.
